We met Jake and Rachel less than three years ago when we moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when Nate (husband) began medical school. Sometimes it’s hard to slow down and make new connections when you’re looking to your future, and in our case we knew we’d be moving again in less than 4 years. It could be easy to live for graduation, residency, or even buying a home. But, then you realize that what you imagine to be ideal is 7 years away. It sounds poster quote cheesy now, but I remember telling myself shortly after Nate started school that “This is our life. Now.”. It’s been new friendships like Jake’s and Rachel’s that has made life right now particularly sweet. We’ve had some of our best adventures with these two; memories I wouldn’t trade for anything. Rach grew up in the Bay area and Jake works at Pixar Studios (fun fact: he designs characters in your favorite animations), so we tried to keep it close to home where their element could help tell their story. From Joaquin Miller Park we took it to Emeryville (home of Pixar) and finally chased the sun down on the bay. I was really excited when I started going through their photos after the shoot because these two wonderful people had completely outdone themselves. You can’t miss how genuinely real, kind, and fun they are, and that’s why we love them!
Have you seen my fabulous website? A huge thanks goes to Jake for creating it. It has every feature a photographer could dream of. Check it out here
